can someone tell me of a very good mechanic for my 1990 westy syncro? i'm not so satisfied with Westcoast VW. She has only 54,000 miles and I want to keep her in tip-top shape.

Drive down PCH to Newport Beach and go up into Costa Mesa to visit Der WagenMeister. These guys know and drive Vanagons. Been working on VWs for several decades. They know what they are doing.

I go to:
Maxed Performance
7281 Autopark Drive
Huntington Beach,Ca.,92648
(714)848-1730

Talk to Ed.Ed is the only one that touches my 83.5 waterboxer.I have not had 1 problem with a major engine rebuilt 2 1/2 years ago. Also had a compleat front end rebuilt. He always uses good parts and the best thing is that want he tells you happens 99.9% of the time.Tell him Glenn sent you. Smile I just can not tell you how happy I am with Ed.The shop rate is not sky high too.Go to shop and take a look.He knows Vanagons.Oh yeah I live right down the street from WestCoast too.

I have a great mechanic for VW's especially for vanagons in San Pedro. Carlos Auto on Pacific Avenue. I had the top end overhauled due to poorly torqued heads with leaking compression into the water jackets and he rebuilt the motor and replaced any all questionable parts, studs etc. quickly and super reasonably. I then drove the van to Florida and back without any problems or leaks. He's also a man of his word and very pleasent.

I know it is a tad further North....

But AutoMeister on Sepulveda in Redondo Beach is top notch.

Hey All contributors!

I just found this post today, but it's pretty old. Do any of you have new insight? Updates? I tried to find Carlos in San Pedro (close to me) but the number I found doesn't work. He sounds the most "down to earth" my style.
Thanks for the information,

Bernadette

How about Walter's in San Pedro?

The had LOTS of Vangons in the lot.

No experience with them, I just noticed them when I was there a few weeks ago.
