|
|
Hello all, I recently picked up a 68 Ghia coupe and plan on restoring it. I plan on re-painting inside and out, which leads me to my question. What would be the best way to remove the paint on the inside of the cab to spray new paint? I've looked at the paint stripper method but that needs to be washed off, leading to moisture inside the cab (guess I can dry it somehow). Soda blasting looks like a good option except residue left could cause paint not to adhere properly. Sand blasting is a bit more harsh on the metal but it seems like the more efficient way, except for the sand that has to be taken out of crevices and such afterwards. It can be done by sanding by hand, but that seems like it would take forever. What do you guys think? Thanks for your input! |

Blast it, or if it's not too bad scuff it and repaint, it will stick... |

Blasting is most likely your best option. The mess is unavoidable and you'll have to clean it up but will give you the best results. You won't want to use the stripper inside the cab, you'll have it all over you. _________________ -Jared

Blasting is the only thing that will remove the old carpet glues and the sound coatings.
Had mine blasted, took home then cleaned, treated and then scuffed the entire thing. Wipe again with a tack cloth and epoxy applied. |

Thanks for your inputs guys, I'll very likely blast the inside but I still have to figure out how I will go about removing the exterior paint |
