Hello all,
My floor pans are complete and the Interior of my 74 super is nearly stripped.
As i get closer to completion I have been giving more thought to paint.
My original intentions were to strip interior, paint, reassemble. Then move on to the exterior.
Now that I have it apart and am not relying on it I wonder ifit would be wise to go ahead and knock out the rest of my bodywork, and plan to paint everything all at once.
What do you guys think?
I guess the only thing that scares me about shooting the whole thing at once is:
1. I was in the back of my head hoping to use the car as my DD and sell my vehicle that I am paying on.
2. I am planning a move in six months. I do not want to have to move a dissassembled vehicle and its peices.
3. I don't want to get overwhelmed and lose grasp of my project.
just thought id ask,
Jeremy |

If you have the time and space strip it all now and paint it at once. Seems easier to me. _________________ 1973 Super Beetle l 1981 Trans Am |

don't strip anything - block it - prime it and shoot the interior at the same time you do the car !

Ready to paint. Deck lid, engine lid, doors and fenders are all off . Would like to paint it all at the same time. Base/clear. Will I have a problem shooting the interior and then when I do the trunk will overspray mess up the interior I just sprayed or vice versa . TIA _________________ 67 zenith blue sunroof

Did you end up painting it all at the same time? Any overspray issues? |

The only thing I did in sections was the body. I did the inside of the trunk and trunk side of dash separate from the rest of the car. I then covered the trunk area (hood was sprayed off the car) I used paper to fill the windshield opening to prevent overspray from hitting the front of the car or vice versa - from getting into the interior. Also covered openings in dash from trunk side when I did that. So when I painted the body I did the dash and interior when I did the exterior. I painted the engine vents below the-rear window with a small gun I bought at Harbor Freight. It’s a 4oz. Detail gun gravity cup and was only about $15. It worked great. I also splurged for a new gun- the black widow from HF. Very happy I did. I used almost 2 gallons of paint -$700.00! Good luck!
