Anti-Seize has worked very well for me for over 20 years. It does not dry out, and run off, like grease does. It doesn't seem to attract as much dirt either.

Anti-sieze is a very poor lubricant. It is designed to help parts separate easily, not as a lube.

Then why has it worked so much better than grease for me for this long? Confused

I have no idea, but read the can and it will tell you that there is aluminum and some type of red metal powder (copper or brass) as ingredients and it is not intended as lube. It actually makes things wear. It is only intended to make parts easy to separate. I work in a steel mill and one of the millwrights thought he would try "Never Sieze" in a troublesome bearing and it wore out much quicker than ones that failed with grease. We switched to a grease with moly and it solved our problem.

I agree it wouldn't work well in a high speed bearing, but in the relatively short interval of movement in the cables there isn't a lot of heat buildup. I have always gotten many miles out of them with the Anti-Seize. My last throttle cable lasted over a 100k miles. Smile

I use open gear lube on my cables. I have used this on my heavy equipment for many years it is designed to stick to where it is applied wont melt and make a mess. Napa carries it in spray can.
