I have enough parts to build an engine. Will any parts fit on a Type 2? I have heads, cam, pistons, basically everything to build an engine...

The only real difference between type 1 and pre-'71 type 2 engines are the aircleaners and exhaust
Almost everything else is interchangeable unless you are going for a fatory correct engine

Depending upon the year the distributor can be different between bus and beetle but that's if your being anal as they both will "work" on either car.

Check the rear breastplate tin you're using matches the apron.

There may be slight cosmetic difference in the exhaust. Also the engine may lack as a 1500 single port compared to the more recent 1600 single or double.
