How do I find the value of my Westfalia? Kelley Blue Book doesn't go as far back as I need. |

tintop, pop-top, full camper.
section of the country it's in.
extent of rust.
all these factor huge in price.
Look on samba classifieds section, that'll give you a good idea _________________ One of these days I'm gonna settle down,

NADA does go back many years.
But that is a very rough guide-- at that age it is all about condition.
38,000 miles in 24 years is a bit unusual. |

Fantastic and amazing to know these vehicles have held their value so well! Crazy to think you could have gotten a brand new one and had it all these years for just over $20,000!
Original $22,235
Low $4,825
Average $7,050
High $10,950
In my area, $10,000 would get you a very rusty but running one, often in great mechanical shape one. A *nice* full camper w/ little to no rust is harder to find and goes for more like $12-14,000, if not asking more. There are a few people that go a bit crazy and ask for $18,000 for one that may or may not be in great shape, but you'll quickly notice those when you watch the adds for awhile and they don't go anywhere...
Best of luck!

It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. It's not worth the money you invested in it, unless someone else sees value in your investment and wants the van more than you do. _________________ Learn to ride. Ride to learn. |

I don't believe the 38,000 miles. Have to have something to back that up, the odometers on these break often and are replaced with zero mile or low mile ones. It would be a super pristine van with those miles, basically collector quality with virtually no imperfections or wear in the paint. Even in a rust area, if it had only 38K, it would not have been driven winters. Anyone with a 38K mile westfalia would know what they had. You almost couldn't take it out without people making offers on it. I call BS. |

Maybe, but about 1 1/2 years ago I found a 68, 000 mile van at the local pic-a-part.
Perfect body, front seats (1990 base model), everything, unbelievable, and at the junkyard.

If not a troll, this first-time poster's location could be in the S.Cal area and maybe a 5 hour drive from GoWe$ty. (or that "restoration"-flipper biz located in L.A.) This could pump up the value to the max if his camper truly has 38k miles, and led a "sheltered life". The guy needs some Vanagon Friends, soon! |

About 6 weeks ago I was able to assist another van owner in getting a fair and equitable offer of settlement from an insurance company after his hightopped van was totalled after being T boned by another vehicle. When the insurance company contacted me I was able to give them links and data to the similar vans that had sold or were currently on the market upon which I based my opinion. I believe that the final settlement was something in excess of 20K. _________________ NAHT hightop availability May 18 2023 -
