OK so I had a bearing go bad and it wrecked my spindle on my 1985 weekender westy made in 2/85 (that is, it is not a late model 85)

I had a new spindle sent to me and it is not like mine it is smaller(not as "tall") and the spindle itself is less beefy, when I look around it looks as if I may have an 86-91 spindle? Mine sure looks like what all the vendors tell you to source when upgrading to the big brake kits.

I am quite certain that the spindle is stock, I have owned the van for 12 years and the previous owner I am sure never changed them. And I have always run stock 85 rotors on the front??

So I need some help so I can source the right part.

Thank you! Todd.

*My original spindle is on the Left and the one sent to me is on the Right*

BUMP, and to add a bit more I guess the overall question is: does this look like an 85 front spindle/knuckle or not maybe some of you could take a look on your vans and see what mine matches up to

again mine is the one on the LEFT.

Thank you all again. Todd.

The spindle you have recieved does not belong on a vanagon. The one you took off is normal.

I would inspect the upright you pulled for a molded in part number, to match up. There are two uprights one for manual steering and one for power steering. I tried to look up the part number of both versions of left uprights, but both are nla on Vagcat.
