i need the breakdown on if comemrcial barndoors came with chrome hubcaps or primer hubcaps? i have seen both and some people seem to swear that they came with chrome, but people suposedly in the know are running primer. what gives? does anyone have one of those "progressive refinements" books that may say?

If I'm wrong, the barndoor police will set me straight. commercial = primer or (paint?) Like most everything at the dealer, I'm sure you could upgrade for a few dollars more. The dealer is in business to make money, and those caps are already on the shelves for Deluxe replacements. AND almost all of us are quite proud to sport "dealer installed" accessories on our rides. If you are looking for "factory correct", go without chrome.

im well aware that post bd comemrcial bus hubcaps were primer. i just want to confirm what was correct for bd. i would have actually assumed primer, its just that i see old pics, lit, etc. showing chrome and i keep hearing it "on the street". believe me, i would like to find definitively that primer is correct. i want to maintain the fleet chrome free if possible. the less of that shiny shit the better!

My '55 Kombi came with chrome hubcaps when I bought it. I believe they are the originals. It has primered hubcaps on it right now though but I purchased those.

All the Barndoor brochures on my site show chrome on the Panels, Trucks, and Kombis.

I have seen numerous old photos that depict chrome but I have also seen old photos where they look like the body color. Hard to tell for sure since it's black/white.

I don't know the answer but I would guess chrome based on the above evidence.
