When I try to use my turn signals, the green light on my dashboard stays solid without blinking. I replaced the flasher relay, no change. For a little while the other day, though, it worked unless I was pressing on the brake pedal. There's obviously some connection problem here, but I'm just wondering if someone knows a good place to start looking.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, it's an '86 Westy.

| Try it with just one bulb in place, then the other. Should blink faster, not stay solid. |

| Well, it's been quite sporadic. It would switch between blinking faster, not blinking, blinking normally and staying solid. |

I know how you feel: I stopped in Belgium once, and asked a gentleman to tell me if my blinkers were working. I put them on, and he said: "They are working. They are not working. They are working. They are not working ..."
I would make next sure all the connections are clean, both power and ground, and remember that the front blinker is a dual filament bulb that can sometimes short out one to the other, blinker to parking light. You might also want to verify the hazard light switch, as the current passes through there as well. The hazard lights use the same blinker relay to flash, so that may give you some hints.
(Of course, all this is based on my experience with my 1983 Air-Cooled, though I do not think that circuit layout has changed over the years.) |

| Okay, right now, the hazard lights and turn signals are doing the same thing. working normally unless the brake is depressed. |

Hi I took my '86 to a mechanic to have coolant issues checked. When I got it back, the turn signals and hazards do not work Turn signal lights just on solid, not blinking. Where is the relay for this? Someone siad it is in the rear but I can't see where.
Thanks! |
