The Bentley electrical drawing on page 97.106 for the 1987 Vanagon shows the ECU ground pin 13 is connected to ground point 29. And it describes ground 29 on page 97.103 as "near Digifant control unit".

Does anybody know exactly where ground connection 29 is located? I'd like to access it to clean up the connection.

If you can see the ECU, then you can see the ground. It's right there.

In a passenger van this is true. In a Westy the ground wire runs under the cabinet to never-never-land. If you have a Westy and suspect this ground is an issue, you may cut the wire and make your own new ground point near the ECU.

I believe it's the brown wire coming out of the ECU and grounded underneath the water tank. Please correct me if I'm wrong. After some grief, I moved the ground point eight inches to the left so I could see it.

Good Luck.
