|
|
Hi guys
The slow process of Brian's makeover continues...
I have a set of window seals for the driver and passenger door sliding windows - both the bottom scrapers and the top/rear felt channel pieces.
Not sure how to fit them?
Just pull out the old ones and push new ones in? do they need fixing somehow? Metal channels crimping over edge of door metalwork??
Any help welcomed!
Thanks all
Tim
PS. 1990 MV - i forgot to mention.. |

The scrapers snap on to clips inside the door. Most times the clips can be reused. The top/rear guides need to be cut to match your old ones in length. Use a fine hacksaw blade to cut them. Install them so the finished end butts up against the scrapers, and push imt the frame around to the wing window. Use weatherstrip adhesive to glue the wing window flaps back to the scrapers and guides.

hey dan
thanks for reply.
sorry for delay - been traveling with work.
bottom scrapers - where are the clips? i took one old one off last night and could not see any clips? looks like i just push the new one in and crimp the embedded (in rubber) metal channel slightly to grab the door metalwork..?
weatherstrip adhesive...?? sorry to be dumb - is this just a home depot style gloop or something specialized..?
i will tackle this over the weekend i hope.
thanks for help |

Pick up some 3M Super Weatherstrip Adhesive #08001, aka 'Gorilla Snot'. Or, if you prefer, #08008, which is the same stuff but in black instead of yellow snot color. Get your surfaces clean before hand and be careful in your application, because this stuff is STICKY and stringy like melted cheese and hard to get off. It will keep your weatherstrip in place where lesser adhesives won't, though!
Don't mess around with cheaper weatherstrip adhesives. Get this one the first time. I believe I got mine at a NAPA, though other FLAPS might carry them as well. Probably not a home store, though. |
