Hi......I have a 57 oval I just finished restoring and has been doing shorts runs for testing purposes.. Everything going good until tonight after a short run I parked it in the garage and when i tried to move it ahead she won't go in any gear. New t.o. bearing plus clutch and pressure plate.Checked cable and tube inside the channel. It's not let go from the welding ..the clutch cable moves the arm on the tranny alright. With engine not running gears change smoothly. Neutral is okay. She will jump ahead if started in gear with the clutch peddle depressed.Anyone has any other tests i can do before having to pull motor?
Sorry for long post....Origional motor and transmission..( gear box) |

Just in case, did you adjust for proper amount of play at the pedal?? _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

When you take it apart check the roller bearings in the flywheel gland nut. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

tks for the replys...yes the adjustment is okay at the peddle.....she was working fine and whatver happened it happened suddenly without warning....I had a friend depress the peddle with the rear wheel off and the cable and the the arm on the tranny that pushes the T.O. bearing out is moving about 1 and quarter inches but the only resissance on it seems to be the return spring itself. I kninda suspect it either the T.O. bearing or gland nut bearing..
Guess i'll find out when engine comes out.
I posted to make sure i've covered all the bases before pulling engine. |

Check that there is not too much play in the pedal assembly shaft. Recently there was a post that turned up the bushings in the pedal assembly were too worn for it to work properly. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

Good to hear it was easily figured out.
Make sure the TO bearing is centered L/R with the transaxle input shaft. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |
