Busdepot dual battery relay

Has anyone here had the bus depot dual battery relay fail? Last night I was checking the engine compartment and noticed the wire that goes from the starting battery to the relay had fried and split. I replaced then wire and 15amp fuse on the relay but i don’t see a voltage spike from the alternator on the house battery anymore.

With the hella type relay should the voltage spike to 14+ on the second battery when running like the starter battery does?

I can't imagine how a relay alone could cause that, unless you wired it wrong.

I think the wire may have gotten pinched and that’s why it shorted and fried.
