Hello, I have a 1985 westy with a 1.9l and it will only start after it is warm if I wait about 3-4 minutes after shutting it off. The engine cranks over fine. The fuel pump cycles and I checked the deceleration switch, in case the injectors were still pumping fuel after no throttle input. I was thinking it might have been flooding the engine. I also unplugged the fuel relay to see if that was the problem. I also jumped the blue temp sensor all to no avail. One thing to note though, if I jump start the van on a hill the engine will then fire right up after warm. Could this have something to do with the starter?

Thanks'

Jon

I just checked the wiring from the starter #50 terminal to #21 on the ecu harness I get cranking voltage at about 9.6 volts. I also checked the voltage at the coil while cranking, it reads at 8.3 volts while cranking, should this not be 12v? When the engine is running it does seem to smell very rich. The egine does perform well while driving though.

Well, I fixed the promblem. I wasn't get voltage at my injectors during cranking when the engine was warm. I replaced the right relay in the relay box and all is well.
