Hi, so this is my first post here, no idea why I haven't signed up earlier. My current major project is a '66 bug that is getting a complete nut and bolt restoration complete with air ride. Another side project is a T3 doka.

But let's get to the main vehicle in question and that is the baywindow that my grandfather has sitting on his field. He got it something like 20 years ago because someone owed him money. As far as I know he never drove it, just parked it there. Why didn't he drive it? He had a proper Chevy camper van and that was a lot cooler back then than some old VW (I'm talking about an ex soviet country here). So the bus is rough looking, but it seems solid, the only big problem is the rear quarter, because well, as you can see it's rusted away. I have some more pictures of it and the interior, will try to find those.

Please post pictures of inside, outside, top to bottom, and underneath. The more the better. Then perhaps we can help you to decide on your rescue path.

I'm going to say because of the fuel door,1973 with an early bumper grafted on..Also could be a '72 that's had a rhinoplasty job (green paint lurking)
I admit I'm a little dusty on the Euro changes,so could be stock?

No idea what the year is, paperwork has gone missing, the early bumper threw me off too. Here are aome pics. We got it in the air with a forklift last summer, it seemed pretty good from underneath. The roof is steong, no denta or rust. The interior was brand new, quite a shame conaidering the state of it

Looks like the bus started life painted green..Elm or Sumatra
Is the serial tag still on the dash on the driver's side?
Mcode plate behind the driver's seat?
There's also a serial tag behind the passenger seat..
The 3rd number will tell what year it is ex: 232xxxxxx
The 3rd number being "2" would tell you it's a 1972 and so on

Gotta be a 72. Rear bumper looks correct, also looks like they saved the silver windshield wiper arms used on a 72. Compare doglegs to this.

Searched did not come up.
72 only Door Frames-Lower Part (doglegs)-(rocker panel)-(wheel arch)
Has flared fender lip over tire, with no step built into the floor section like the 73-79. Because the step is, in the wrap around bumper as the 68-71.
Thanks to Volktales for the pic.

72 only front Tow Hook.
