|
|
Just read some of the "what wheels fit tread" and i got a headache.
I nkow half the fun is figuring out how to make non OEM wheels bolt in our vans (Thank you Chris ant T3 Techniques).
But is there a wheel out there that is a direct fit, and if not with minimal modification.
I had this before, Panthers and Voxx, but I'm afraid they are NLA, or are they?

Direct fit wheels can be had from van cafe or go westy. Alloys are either Chinese Mercedes copies, or van cafe's 5 spoke carrots steels are from mefro. The best direct fit used wheels are from Mercedes, but they need different lug nuts and screws, an they need their lug holes drilled. Check out Chris's second big wheel thread for the condensed version.

| We purchased the GW 16's a week before our maiden voyage. They included the lug bolts and lug nuts. No spacers or modifications to get them to fit. They bolted right up. With a 215/65/16 tire, I don't think you can get much more rubber on them without doing something to the fender wells and the sliding door. |

I was thinking more on the lines of wheels fro tire rack or discount tire.
The ones from GW and VC, are nice but I'm for variety. _________________ Tight is tight... too tight is expensive!!!!

You can search on wheels using 5x112.. and then weed through what is available. There is quite a lot.. since the dimensions match MBZ and a couple Audis..
Ronal had some really nicer lookers, but they have trended up sizes.
The 15s I liked are no longer listed.
There is massive aftermarket fashion bling for the MBZ crowd but much if it is the current trend of spider web like spokes with faux rivets and color trim. Most of it made in China, too.
Finding the right ET takes more time as they are not often published.. and you have to contect seller and/or manufacturer.
Wheels are often listed to match car model...
The fashion is bigger wheels 17, 18, and on up... Bleechh..
Nothing in 14. Not much in 15.. a little more in 16.
I looked.. a few yrs back.. Found VERY little in my taste range and eventually settled on MBZ knock-off steelies. _________________ -89 GL Westy, SVX.. finally.

So..... I'm not sure what you are asking? You want something that isn't factory, but fits like a factory wheel, and not "done to death" in your opinion?
'fraid you are going to have to do your own research me thinks. _________________ previous:

| I've got the Voxx ones in th first photo. I didn't buy them, they where on the van when I bought it. They fit well, but the lug holes are very deep and the original lug wrench doesn't fit, no big deal. I just carry a star lug wrench with me. One thing I noticed is that the bolts that hold the drums in place (during the assembly line I presume) had to be removed. |

Most after market wheels for first gen Audi Allroad fit. At least the ones I´ve come across. They usually have a removable plastiv hub ring and the right offset. I´ve had a couple of sets from an Italian brand that I´m happy with. Currently I have original Audi Allroad 16 inchers on the westy. Not a direct fit as I had to open the centre bore to 66.6mm.
Lots of after market wheels for MB´s are a direct fit. Look for wheels for the 123 and 126 series cars. Steel wheels for the 126 series (mid 80s) are popular in Europe. They come in 15" and 16" and fit without mods with an offset of 25. _________________ 88 Westfalia Club Joker syncro AAZ i/c

I have the VOXX MG3 wheels. No modifications necessary although I did buy the T3 conversion lugs for the front.
They haven't fallen off yet.
Bought them last year.

The VOX MG wheels in the first pic are discontinued (I need one for my spare)
The Voxx MG3 should fit but I'm not sure about the load capacity of them..

Many of those have 12mm bolt holes/steel inserts, which make them not a boly-on.
Most bolt-on wheels come from Van Cafe and Go Westy - the MBenz steelies count too, I guess... _________________ '84 Vanagon GL 1.9 WBX

These 15's bolted right on my wife's van.... Unfortunately I have no idea what they are. Our local VW garage had one set of them but no information about them.
Any info?
