Okay, so the motor is running beautifully now, no bucking or hesitation as before, but I don't really know what I did. Someone mentioned in response to my earlier plea that a points triggered ignition system will always miss a little, and it's true that I can still see an occasional electrical miss, but I don't feel it at all when driving. So fuel delivery must have been my problem. In case anyone can clue me in to what the problem was and when it will recur, I'll let you know what testing I did.
Pulled the FI wiring harness, opened it up and checked all the wires for degraded insulation. (Had aready checked all connectors a while back)
Pulled the injectors out and checked operation and spray pattern.
Tested double relay for correct functioning.
The double relay is where my suspicions lie as the bucking I had felt was major enough that all injectors must have been conking out at once. Could the double relay be kind of rickety so that power to the FI system was being interrupted intermittently?
Thanks |

Yep. The double relay is so far upstream that when it gets intermittant, everything downstream gets it. Remember,
" What makes the double relay happy. . .makes YOU happy."

| Thanks for the confirmation. I'll try to round one up. |

That's normal. If you do feel it while driving it can be the temp sensor II and if it gets extreme then it's a problem with the distributor shaft or the crankshaft (endplay, etc). _________________ '78 Westfalia CDN
