I picked up a Matra 310 at the NW Bug Run a couple years ago.
It's not in as good of condition as Fishynos72.
It has been painted blue and the handle is not og. But the 310 is serviceable.
Unfortunately, all but one of my engines are 8 dowel. So I can only use it on my 1600 SP.
Curious what the value of the Matra 310 is?
I can clean mine up and repaint it. If I know the closest match to the Matra tool color is. _________________ I have learned over the years.

Not the easiest of questions to answer. Demand will dictate the price.
Given you said you can use it with a 1600, I'd suggest it's 310A for 40hp use and up.
A 310a would be for most workshops, even most enthusiasts a more useful version of the tool. the 310 non a being limited to only 36hp usage.
Based on 3 sold samba listings from 310A- pricing was between 150- 250 euro.
Assuming they sold for the asking price.
They were in varying states of condition, usually a thick coat of whatever paint scheme suited it's workshop décor.
Post some photos here and you might have someone reach out. _________________ Collector of all things Volkswagen, Hazet and Matra.

VW293. Mine I think is too narrow for later bearings by memory but it’s been a while since I’ve torn down a 3.88 pinion shaft so I’m not sure. I’ll have to dig up a later style pinion bearing and make sure the bracket clears.
Edit: added socket and different view.

"If" you ever end up getting the piece of this tool on the right in the lower illustration made locally, I'd be interested in one. A buddy recently gave me the VW 293 device on the left side used to hold the cluster, but the socket-like "do-hickie" was long gone. Anyway, put me on the list "if" you make any of that socket-like part of this tool... Thanks!

Hello again.
Have been using my vw214 recently, bought a new Ludwig Hunger reamer for it and decided I'd had enough of the water damaged storage box.
I need to work on the finish as the original paint is smoother and more "powdery""

Nice work Sir! Collecting those tools is fun enough, but to go for the outfield fence by restoring the cool German boxes some of these tool sets come it is awesome!
I have that same set and although I've never used it (yet) it's very cool and I was delighted when I got it! I've always wondered if I have all the pieces of it...

A new level of obsession indeed.
There's a German VW tool group on Facebook with similar restorations happening. To an even greater level of detail
Post up photos of the kit you have. Many knowledgeable members here and someone should be able to advise if your missing any pieces _________________ Collector of all things Volkswagen, Hazet and Matra.

Figured a good bump for this thread as I've been putting a 36hp together this weekend, and I got to crack out a bunch of tooling, some of them Matra.
There's more on my 1958's thread if anyone is interested in having a look.

Here is the VW 214 set that I have... It might be missing a part or two or have too many collars or parts, who knows? It may be a updated kit that started out as a #214 kit, and may have been supplemented later with updated later pieces making it an #214"A", "B" or ? set? Here are a few photos:

Almost identical to the assortment in my kit.
Definitely has some double ups and later additions, but it's hard to know what originally came in the kit as the tool listings suggest it's sparse so the dealership could order what they need.
It's actually a very well thought out tool for the job, and you appear to have everything there to straighten rods and ream new bushes.
Reamers can still be purchased new through Ludwig Hunger in Germany.
A nice addition is the bush removal tool. _________________ Collector of all things Volkswagen, Hazet and Matra.

Hey, thanks for the reply about my #214B tool set. I've never used it yet. It would be cool to search YouTube to see if there is any videos of someone using the #214 tool set to both check rods for straightness, ream bushings and then using it to straighten out a slightly bent connection rod! Do you know the tool number (or have a photo) for the bushing removal tool you suggested. I'll have to keep an eye out for that one! Thanks!

Holy crap! Thanks "Fishynos72" for the photo of that small end bushing puller! I just checked my tool collection and found that I actually have #212A !!! I thought it looked a bit familiar...

Hello Guys,
I 've just bought this one. It looks like a 118/30 but has different writings (3487 47-30, WB 84/50) with a 3/4" end. Anyone has infos on it ?

That's a love bit of kit, and if you paid the 40euro listed price it was a good bargain.
it's of zero help- but I see the WB and think Warren&brown as they make Torque wrenched- maybe they did a calibration on it at some point?
I would suggest the handle stampings would be to label it for a shop, or even a trolley or set number across multiple work stations.
Keep in mind Matra used to make general high quality tooling not just VW group tooling.
WB might also stand for something in German or French that wouldn't even cross my mind. _________________ Collector of all things Volkswagen, Hazet and Matra.

Thanks for you answer. I can't see any meanings in French for WB
But it seems I found another tool with WB stamping :

Ok. Perhaps a vehicle brand WB as the Volkswagen tools have VW numbers _________________ Collector of all things Volkswagen, Hazet and Matra.
