I have a 66 that I'm makin into a volksrod. Don't really feel like repairing the bad body work in the doors. I stumbled past a clean set of California doors for $100. The only issue is, they are 67 doors. What would I have to do for these to work? Is it worth the effort? Any pics of the differences would be appreciated. Thanx

It's probably not worth the effort. The '67 door uses a different latch, so you would need to cut the strikers from a donor body and weld them into your '66.

Unfortunately doors from a '65/'66 are the only ones that will bolt up and look right.

The '67 being a one-year-only car the doors probably have value. Since the lock mechanism is failing on my '67 I wish I had spare doors for parts.

Damn, that sucks. I need to find a passenger 66 door in good condition. I have a pre -64 door on my 66. It looks out of place.

To compound things, '66 doors had a door handle change mid year. (From square to round pushbutton) and I'm not certain they're interchangable.

Yes mid 66 door handles (round push button) will work on 65-66 doors. 65-66 handles will not work on 67 doors. Latch mech changed for 67 and newer, and 67's were all by themselves.

Find a 65-66 door is your best option, but swapping out the entire latch area on a 67 up door to accept the older slider latch can be done.
Its way easier to modify the bofy simply to accept the Pin type 67 up latch. Then the skys the limit on doors as good door can be found for 68 and newer.

If those 67 doors are in good shape, snatch them up, they are an easy sale to the 67 purist...but they would need to be nice to really profit.
