you need all of it.
the only thing you need to get rid of since you dont have heat are your heat exchangers. you need to swap them out for j tubes, otherwise they act as giant heat sinks and will cook your heads. _________________ foam cowboy hats aren't good helmets. |

If you replace your heat exchangers with j-tubes you should also remember to use the lower sled tins along with what are called "industrial tins" the industrial tins close uo the open area left when heat exchangers aren't used. |

it kinda depends on what you have, what your doing, how your doing it.if it's in a trike or baja you can get rid of a lot of it.in a rail(dragster) you could even shed more, sand rail about the same as a baja.for a watter pump or generator or even factore powerplant, running a bunch of belts that depends on how it is mounted and configured, but you dont want it recycling the heated air when it is up to temp.(recycling the heated air before it is up to temp will bring it up to temp fasterand is easy to do depending on how it is configured.I wish vw had done that instead of the flaps) |

This is for a '64 Bug with a 2 liter motor with no exchangers. Do I need the flaps & the thermostat? |

You ll get mixed answers on that... Ideally yes you need the thermo and flaps for proper warm up and longevity of the motor. If you decide not to do the thermostat then at least keep the flaps to properly direct the air
I'm in the midst of putting a 2007cc in a 61 and decided to go with the flaps and thermostat. Got everything from Awesome Powdercoat _________________ 61 ragtop, 12 turbo beetle |
