Man I have some strange luck when it comes to these VW's. The new draft tube boot I purchased didn't have a slit in the end of it. So I made a small one with my knife and blew through it to double check. Anyone ever had this problem?
Here is a picture of it before I cut a slit.

When you say tit, are you referring to the nipple like bump? _________________ "Good judgment comes from experience and a lot of that comes from bad judgment"

There is a hole in the tube and a corresponding male nub inside the boot that are supposed to match. |

Are we still talking about volkswagen engines?
Just joking guys. I double checked and I did get everything installed correctly. _________________ "Good judgment comes from experience and a lot of that comes from bad judgment"

I know this is an old post, but I thought I'd revive it to ask a related question: I've had 3 aftermarket boots crack and split after only a few hundred miles of driving. After a couple thousand (between oil services) they usually fall off. Does anybody make one that will actually last? _________________

I have a standard 76 Beetle, still fuel injected.
Does this boot go somewhere on my car?
Anyone have a photo of their FI breather tube?
Thanks in advance. |

If your factory oil fill doesn't have a road draft tube extending down under the engine compartment through a hole in the engine tin then you don't need this part. I don't think the fuel injected Beetles had one. _________________ "Just $99 down and $64 a month for 36 months buys you a brand new Volkswagen Beetle!"

I wouldent waste $ or thyme on building a small motor. build it big so it dosent have to work hard.remember it's only as fast as your foot alows it to be unless you build a small turd then it just stinks as it squishes up through your toes when you step on it. |

The down tube was eliminated in 73 or 74, the tube to the air cleaner is much larger (~20mm) instead. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Thanks SBD and busdaddy.
I thought so.
Yet another part listed for my car that doesn't fit!
Across several websites.
