Found this picture on the internet. Thought it was interesting. Please I AM NOT trying to make a political statement, I just found it interesting. Looks to be a right hand drive, any guess on the year? If you look to the left of the photo there are other Beetles as well. From the license plates I would guess maybe Africa somewhere? _________________ Brianna's Grandpa |

Give or take a decade, they only met each other in '89
Photo was taken in '92, the year they got married according to Google. _________________ Quick little bug, you got a Porsche motor in that?

Found this...
a) 'Dreams' claims that Auma, (Obama's half sister) took her Volkswagen Beetle to a mechanic during his first trip to Kenya (in 1987 or 1988?). b) Maraniss claims in his book that Auma's Volkswagen Beetle broke down during the first Kenya trip and that "Auma and Barack had to push it to the curb until some young men came to fix it." c) Auma Obama claims in her book that her Volkswagen Beetle broke down when Barack and Michelle visited Kenya in 1990: "One day [in 1990], when we were driving along the three-lane Uhuru Highway, Barack next to me, Michelle in the backseat, I suddenly found myself forced to stop abruptly and get us all out of the Beetle. ..."Get out! It's on fire!" I shouted." d) 'Dreams' claims Michelle and Barack went to Kenya in 1992 after their engagement. |

It would mean more if he drove one here. He doesn't like German built cars though. He wants them built in Canada _________________ Fatchicks: Daily drivers, donor cars, collectibles. What can't they do? |

Yep, you can also tell by the dash with only the center defrost vent and crease where the crescent vent goes, all the 70s 1200s were like that _________________ Quick little bug, you got a Porsche motor in that?

and mexico.
reminds me of an old co worker who asked why i drove a german car, why not a ford or a chevy, something made in usa? i asked him what does he drive. he said chrysler crossfire and his wife has a cadillac srx.
crossfire is built in germany and srx is built in mexico. _________________

[air cooled vw's] are no longer suitable for the general public. The owner has to be be able to maintain the car. And that is after fixing all the deferred maintenance items and ill-conceived modifications. If you can't do those things you are pretty much screwed. |
