Just looking for some input or advice on my draw through build. and let me preface by saying this is a street car but will not go out every weekend mostly drag racing/racing my buddies.
2180cc, pachito heads 40/35, engle 120 cam, 1:1 rockers, maxpeedingrods t35 turbo
I recently got my hands on a decent condition 4 barrel 500cfm edelbrock carb for this setup. Which could work! i think. Never touched 4 barrels so no idea what im looking at. but wondering if i should go up to a 750 holley double pumper instead. not really sure what direction to go with the fuel setup but either way if i could make what i have work it would be ideal. I know Ron Lummus makes a turbo prepped carb. Does anyone know what that really means? should i be turbo prepping my carb? i thought that only may be for blow through.
Also for ignition system as of right now, im just gonna run a locked out 009 with a electric module in it. I know that the jank way but i am a cheapo . Anyways wondering down the line if crank trigger is more ideal or msd with a box.
I dunno maybe there is a easier cheaper alternative but i cant think of one. anyways let me know what you guys think, _________________ 1968 912 basketcase

Regarding the ignition,
I'm about to pull mine down to Install a draw through turbo. I recently installed the peripheral items, including the programmable MSD 6 box with the map sensor Input. It .ade an improvement even in the current NA engine. I've become a fan of the MSD parts _________________

You have a lot of questions you need to do some researching on instead of just asking for answers. Sure you may get answers but theyre going to be all over the place and if you only go off of the answers given you then youll never truly understand whats what and why it does what it does, and youll be lost on how to tune your turbo set up.
Aside from that, locked dizzy works but is the lowest level of working. If you want to go that cheap then limit your 009 instead of locking it. Again, do more research and you’ll understand why. _________________ "how am i supposed to torque the rear wheel nut to 250 ft lbs??? " - clonebug
An interesting thing happens in forums where everyone starts parroting the same thing and "common knowledge" takes over.
Most experts aren't. |

I am leaning towards the msd after reading some on it. I did not know it had full programable timing curve and it says it can even be locked? im guessing you need the msd billet dizzy for the full lock out and timing curve though which makes the purchase hurt a little cuz of the price but honestly seems worth it in the longrun.
And fuel wise, I think im just going to try the edelbrock i have. It should be fine for the most part. 750 double pumper is a lot of flow at wot and i think it will just have more driveability with the edelbrock, at least to getting it running and somewhat driving. if its bad enough im thinking about one of those holley sniper efi kits, but again would cost an arm and a leg/
so really just gotta put the thing together. _________________ 1968 912 basketcase

Yes... I have the MSD distributor now. The MSD box can take inputs from a points distributor, or, as in my case, a CB Magna Spark. Be careful which box you get. Not all of them are programmable. On the other hand, one of them will take a boost signal directly.
Good luck! _________________

I ran the older 600 afb and the newer 650 avs2 edelbrocks and they worked great on my 2276 turbo'd engine. I'm sure you can make the 500 work good as well. Got great fuel economy out of it too- off boost that is.
Here is the thread I have on going of my engine. I believe I started it when I first installed the edelbrock. I'm running fitech now.
