Hi Folks,
I'm redoing my Westy interior and am going to put my headliner back in pretty soon and would like to garner some ideas about the headliner droop that I have. The major cause of the droopage is the dvd player that I've installed in the headliner. Although it was installed close the edge the already slightly droopy liner is now more droopy and I'm looking to fix that. I've seen on the later model weekenders there are 3 screws in the middle to tack down the headliner. Has anyone tried to do imitate this on a model that didn't have it and if so how did you go about doing it? I haven't seen the headliner off on these versions so am not sure how it's done. If anyone has or know of photos of it that might help me. I'm currently thinking of epoxying some nuts to the roof and then screw the headliner in place. Any other thoughts?
Thanks! |

what about adding a thin wood or aluminum crossmember from driver to passenger side, midway front to back, trying to replicate the set up in later vans? _________________ 1991 Westy auto w/ Peloquin TBD

Thanks Madspaniard,
Do you know if a cross member used on the late models?
It's a good idea nonetheless. I'd be concerned about using wood and stripping out the holes after a removal or two. I might try the metal option. If I adhered a strip of aluminum across the hood at the 2 ends of the metal strip the bow of the hood might provide enough space between the strip and the hood for the ends of the screws to pass through at those points without hitting the hood. I'll check that option out. Thanks for the ideas!
If anyone has a photo of the original method I'd love to see how they did it at the factory. |
