| Where can I find information on identifying which bolts are TTY on a 2000 VW 2.0L AEG engine? The head bolts are TTY, but are the connecting rods bolts and main bearing cap bolts also TTY? Also I have seen talk about some of the engine mount bolts being TTY, is there a listing somewhere to identify the bolts that are TTY? |

If you'll post pictures of the bolts and the torque spec that goes with them I will tell you if they are stretchy or not.
The manuals and info systems I am aware of do not have this info, you'll need to ask the dealer. Beware of aftermarket companies that sell bolts, they often recommend new bolts but are kinda biased about it, as you might expect
I have run into several cases where for instance the main bolts are clearly torque to yield type..........but they do not sell new ones, dealer tells me you have to buy a new block to get the bolts
Just tread with caution, you can torque up these bolts a few times without hurting anything as long as you use some common sense and don't OVERDO IT ! |
