the have tins that look gold in color i think its yellow zink coating can you primer and paint over that with good adhesion

I just scuffed mine up with a red scotch brite, then shot them with single stage black enamel. Seems to be holding up great so far.

Many replacement parts are shipped in Gold or clear zinc. Hood hinges etc... Scuff them with a scotch brite pad and follow with a self etching primer. This will bond with the zinc plating and be a good substrate for your top coat.
