Hey guys. Getting ready to replace the dog legs on my late bay and have a few questions

For areas of pinch welds / spot welds where i have access to both sides is it best to drill the spot weld out on the layer that i will be replacing and leave the recipient / factory flange solid, drill the recipient side and no holes in the donor piece / new piece or doesnt really matter ?

Second. The front little tab / lip extension that comes off the full quality dog leg panels i believe gets tucked behind the defirmation panel and seam welded to the a pillar but does anyone have any detailed steps on how to properly layer the front? I believe something on outer skin of deformation has to be peeled back but not sure if that needs a seam cut. A spot weld cut or what have u to properly peel that layer back. Mine was a hack job po just put an outer skin on and bondoed the transition between the dog leg skin and deformation panel

Third
There appear to be “top quality” dog legs from cip1. Wolfsburg west and alan schofield. Are these silver weld thru primered dog legs all from same place or does somebody have different brands. The prices seem slightly different around 450 usd. But they look dang similar. Im in usa so unless the schofield parts are substantially better i will go domestic but they look likelt the same

1) the parts are most likely the same

2) yes, drill the outer panel and leave the inner panel alone. If you accidently drill thru the inner panel, just weld up the hole and grind flat so a plug weld can be laid down

in other words, drill only the panel you plan on replacing

thank you, that front lip that gets tucked under is kind of a tricky area expecially since im not sure whats even there after i grind it out, wish i had some detailed picks about how all those layers come together and how to "bend out" the layer that goes over the top of that front edge on the dog leg
