thinking about chopping the top on my bug. instead of having to custom cut or make the front windshield for my 69 bug i was just thinking how much smaller is the windshield on 64 and older bugs? does anyone have a size comparison for the windshields? or info if this would work. is so that would sure be one step that would be easier |

I don't think they're going to be "smaller" enough. A 1" or even 2" top chop isn't really going to be worth it. I haven't priced it personally but it can't be that expensive to have a windshield cut. And then you have the side windows to deal with too...
A buddy of mine chopped the top on his Ranchero and had a windshield cut but he traded out some other work for the deal. Not much help ... got any friends in the glass biz? _________________ Two wrongs don't make a right...

nope no friends in the glass business haha. and i really like the volksrod look with the extended front end i just think it looks bad without the chop. if got 6 doors and finding another bug wont be to bad then just weld and cut. ive read to get lexan instead of plexiglass for the side windows and ill cut those, ill use one piece side windows, and use the stock rear window and ill only have to get the front one cut. i just had that come to mind about the early stock front windshield and thought id ask figured it was a decent question |

I was able to cut my front windshield using a cheap harbor freight sand blaster.

was pretty much my bible for how to go about it, with only a few exceptions, which were mostly where I used a little bit easier methods, more suited to my skills. _________________ 69/70 chop refurbed from a 70 baja |
