Looks like an oval or zwitter, not split window dash...

Even if it was an early KG dash the mount is the same. Image is listed as "Dehne 1951/52".

Middle part of the paperwork? Looks like a split dash pod next to the glovebox. (thanks for the original post to Eurodub and Andi )

i put mine in the front of steering wheel ... just as it was intended originally. it's in plain sight there and the cable is running almost straight to the fuel tank.

Thanks guys. It is hard to find good pics of this in a split dash. I know some people have extensive photo collections from shows, etc. So keep 'em coming! Razz

mine.. Smile
PS just noticed that all the above pics have the gauge mounted slightly lower than in the manual above. that was caused by the dash pod fixture on the back, if i recall correctly i had problems drilling holes to clearance that mount.

Within the wonderful installation instruction provided in this forum, I see a location for the sender hole in the top right side of the early style gas tank. My June 1952 Beetle came with the Dehne gauge but its original gas tank is long gone. The written instructions indicate that the hole should be 56.5mm in diameter. Before I cut my hole, I’d appreciate confirmation that this location and hole size are accurate.
In addition, I’d appreciate anyone that has a correct early white face for the viewable gauge take detailed pictures and, if possible, include measurements so I can recreate one for my car.
