|
|
I want to make a remote starter.. One that I can use tomorrow so I don't want to wait for one to come in the mail.. I have plenty of supplies on hand.. This is for use while engine is in my bus.. Here are my questions..
What gauge wire should I use?
So I clip one end of the wire to the posetive battery terminal, the other end to the starter with the switch in the middle?
Other then leaving bus in neutral with the brake on is there anything else I need to do?
Any other pointers?
Thanks for any help! _________________ 73 Riviera Camper

What are you tring to do? do you want to be able to start it from inside you house? or do you mean a bump starter to turn the motor over while working on it? If you want to be able to start it to warm it up in the morning you will probably need EFI as a carbed vehicle usually wont start with out pumping the gas a couple of times.

Just to be able to work on it, check spark, compression, etc.. _________________ 73 Riviera Camper

well, you need a big momentary switch, probably rated oh, 15-20 amps
They starter buttons just for the purpose at the autoparts store, bout 6 bucks
10 gauge wire, would be good
just need to solder some terminals on the ends to connect to the switch and starter
the battery is already wired to the starter, so you just run both lines to it |

They do make ford type solenoids with a button on the top or bottom for tis specific purpose. Any REAL parts store should be able to find this for you.....
Standard motor parts make several types.....

Just buy remote starter pushbutton....
Connect one side to terminal 50 of solenoid and other side to +12 volts...

| Also can be handy to just build it into the car permanently. I was not sure if that was what you meant or not. |

I am getting ready to hook up my remote and wanted to confirm that I will connect A and B, correct? I am using the Actron remote starter.

| I usually use a wire with a spade crimped on and touch it at the battery or Alt. Just dont touch it where the wire cant support the current draw or fire will happen. Its only pulling the solenoid. |
