Not a question of do I want to, I am going to install a decoupler in my '87 Syncro with no locking diff.. I have a van-cafe decoupler. I will be using a vacuum pump from Stainless Steel Brakes Co. for use when cam lift and duration decrease or eliminate engine vacuum. I will be using a Comp Cams vacuum canister and a mercedes b. check valve along with the switch that came with the decoupler as well as an indicator light. I need to build a panel to house the switch and light, mount the vacuum stuff etc.. The electrical connections are pretty straight forward. The Van-Cafe instructions are clear as to where the vacuum lines run and attach to the switch. If anyone reads this and if anyone who reads this has had experience in this modification/addition sees something I have missed please comment. If you just want to comment, I would appreciate that too.
Thanks ahead of time.

Just a side note: I have had such great experience with Van-Cafe and it's service representatives that they have become my vendor of choice. Customer service is as important as product and price-within reason.

you don't need to build a panel for the switch. This van has a decoupler but no diff lock. You can see where the switch was mounted just below the dash.

I installed a decoupler (GoWesty) into a van without a rear locker. I found someone on the samba who was selling a complete setup with the panel and vacuum tank and all the lines. The GoWesty kit also came with the knob and lines. Keep an eye on the classifieds - setups are out there.
