I'm trying to put an oil filter on a single relief case, it uses the upright style oil cooler, and I'm wondering if anyone has used this before:

I don't want to make my engine full flow, so any thoughts of why I shouldn't do this?

Yes it will work.
Just understand oil filtering will only be part of the time. It not the best way to do it.

Yea, I figured its not the best method.

I just don't have enough room for the oil pump bypass filter setup.

My understanding is that these bypasses can only be used if the return is somewhere else on the case? or can I use one of the bypass pumps that will attach to fittings to a remote filter?

You can go with a outlet plate for oil pump and go full flow, but you have to drill and tap case for return line and block pump outlet either in case or pump body....

I think the oil filter pump/plate is best option and least complicated if you can make room for it....

X2 on Dale's post.

If you do end up putting the filter somewhere else on the car do not hang it off the exhaust or where to rear tires will kick rocks on it.

So basically, all I have to do is tap right there and plug the pump? sounds pretty simple.

The concept is simple.... There is a few issues getting a fitting (usually a 90° turn) to go into hole in block and it may need some tweaking (grinding/filing)to gain clearance as you screw it in.... And be sure if you plug oil pump, plug does not interfere with it going back into case or extend far enough to hit pump gears...

Needless to say you need to do these mods while engine is apart so you can clean oil passage really well... Some have had success doing it in car and extracting cutting burrs/chips from tap with grease on threads of tap and reverse air pressure from oil pressure port but its difficult to be sure passage is really clean and free of burrs/chips. Also be sure in and out of filter adapter are plumbed properly and use good quality oil lines... Pressures can go up to 120psi (or more) on cold start ups... You do not need burst oil line...

Well, sounds simple and yet simple enough to have a ton of issues. In the end I think I'm not going to go full flow. I'm going to try out the dual oil cooler setup once I get enough money. I'll post results if anyone is interested!
