carb adjustment

does anyone no the amount of turns that i can use as a start so i can tune my 1983 1.9 petrol T25 i.e if it the the air screw and mixture screw all the way in how many turns out would be say be a factory start point

Over on this side of the pond, there hasn't been a VW van with factory carbureter since 1974 or 1975. All EFI over here due to emissions regulations. So, don't feel ignored - - most of us just don't know the answer to your question. I don't.

Just turn them out 2 turns or so and see what happens. If it starts and runs, then let it warm for a bit and then adjust as needed to get a smooth idle and correct idle speed.

What carb(s) do you actually have? Kind of sounds like a single Solex 34pict-3.
