So this is the thing with suicide doors... its a PITA!! But its easier after the first one.... my issue was having suicide doors with working windows. The hinges i used were these here...
Two of the 4 plates that are welded to the frame are too big. I fit these in only after cutting the plate... also i replaced the screws that came, with bolts... So now i can roll my window down with no issues. Aligning the doors is the hardest part... i did this on my own, but if you have two people, it would be so much easier....
Bear claw latches: so the bear claw latches come in different sizes. Large medium small and mini... what i have found is that you will need to get the MINI LATCH, i believe to be the smallest... some say the medium or small, but the i have come to the conclusion that the small and mini are the same size.... but buy the mini... you will need to have the whole setup also with the hindges - http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNIVERSAL-MINI-BEAR-CLAW-L...mp;vxp=mtr
you will need the plate, the latch, the door post bolt, and the door post bolt plate... very easy to install... if you have a welder
Measure correctly!
I am also looking at a dead bolt system as a precaution... |

I just dismantled the beam... Was stuck on how to remove the arms but figured it out this morning... The two bolts in the middle require an Allen wrench.. There was so much dirt I couldn't see it... The body is going to blasting next pay day... I think, maybe with tax money. I figured out now that I am going to narrow my beam and put adjusters.. Might as well ... Right!... Ill take pictures Thursday of the clean up and pulling the arms , when they decide to come out... |

Taped up the cutting mark and cut inside the tape...
What the inside of the bar looks like.... where the leafs slide in...
Cleaning as much grease as possible... it s a mess...
Finished for the day... will measure and weld tomorrow...
I was able to use a socket extension to pound the bearings out and this shim thing... 3 were relatively easy... 1 took me like 1 1/2hrs... it was bad... finally i resorted to my dremal and cut parts and bits away and was able to get a hammer and screw driver to get it out.... Good Luck if your doing this... it is a PITA... |

Taped up the torsion leafs and cut them... you will need to tape the ends before cutting or weld the ends or something to hold them in place. I did this cause i used a electric angle grinder with a metal cutter blade. the tape isnt where i cut, i measured out an inch each side and then cut and smoothed. All i have to do the dimples. I will get the drill bit today... This picture is to reference the dimples.
I finally cleaned the old rubber seal off the pan... what a mess that was... it really messed up my garage floor... ill have to clean it real good now...heheh
New lowered German ball joints and tie rod ends.
I have rusty parts soaking in acid rust remover from home depot (similar to CLR) at the moment to remove rust and grease... ill take a picture of that next... most likely today... i am going to check the progress... been soaking for 2 1/2 days now... started Thursday night.... |

Cleaned up my torsion arms... soaked them in rust remover from home depot (blue gallon bottle $10) for 3 days... then wire wheel them and clean... will do a more detail cleaning before paint... |

here i am notching out my dimples on the leaves with a grinder (not the metal cutter)
Dimple reference
Used my tools to spread the leaves apart to notch them out one at a time, only need to do the four middle ones (the dimples are one on top and one on bottom)
Painted my torsion arms and what not
More Painting
So i got this great idea to wash my tranny and clean the chassis by propping it up against my house... it was very easy and light with no front end...
underside!

I am putting the front end together today and will have plenty of pictures to show the steps involved...
I also have this great idea of filling a trash can full of water and baking soda and doing electrolysis rust removal on my heater boxes... i don't want to have rust flying in the air from wire wheeling, they are pretty bad... and also just want to try it! Should get the inside and the out...
I priced out Media Plastic Blasting from a local place in Vegas, they quoted me at $620 dollars for only the shell (no fenders, hood, scoop, apron, and half the inside, not even the ceiling, as they are both already covered in sound insulation)and i called around and they were cheapest... so forget that crap... way too much!... So now its sanding time i guess... i will begin that next week.... |

Just so people are aware when placing the adjusters in place, there is the small grub screw that will stick into the leaf pack.
OK here is the beam with the bearings in.... this was horrible.... so ill start off by saying this first... IF YOU NARROW YOUR BEAM 2" OR WHATEVER INCHES, YOU DO NOT CUT YOUR LEAVES THE SAME AMOUNT... Why??? its because you have to measure the beam then add the space of the bearings up on the arms, (in my case an inch or so only) that will be taken up as well... Yea, i didn't realize this, dumb me... live and learn right!!!!
I should have measured the beam and the bearings on them cut the leaves accordingly....
... so what i had to do is shave a bit off the bearings enough on both sides evenly to get the grub screw on both front torsion arms.... its in now and its sturdy and it works....
