Here is a bus i picked up that had survived Katrina (luckily was on high ground), survived me almost having to sell it when I was in between jobs, and now I am back it, getting ready to do the front seats.
NOTE: this is a bus I plan on using to camp. I wanted to get it clean and useable. Take it easy on me for the things that may not be 100% original. The inside was pretty far gone when I got her, and it is my goal to keep everything I can, but some of it was just not practical to do original.
Working up the nerve to tackly the body work, but it may be next season.
She has a Type 4 motor and tranny in her (Looking for donor!) Story I got was the original motor blewup coming up, somewhere around nashville.
Glad I was able to take it down from the classified section, and excited to share the rest of the journey!
For the fuel filter (I'm already scared. Should I move this, if so WHERE?)

Cool. Looks like a fun and promising project. There is nothing like a Westy to enhance the quality of one's life. They are amazing and fun. _________________ *****************

Any more info on what you used to paint / refinish the top? More pics of it too and the process? _________________ Formerly known in the forums as "OVALTEEN"

I have never seen this thread. Great job on the interior! Looks fantastic. About the fuel filter, I would put it and the pump on the frame just about under where it sits in that picture. I don't know if that's where they went in 77 but my fuel pump and filter are on the drivers side frame behind the rear wheel. _________________ 1978 Delux Campmobile

The fuel filter problem with VWs is really a Solex carb problem. they just stick a brass tube into an aluminum body. the weight of a fuel filter bobbing around pulls that brass tube out of the Solex body. If that carb is not a Solex it is not a problem. If you just have to move it - that fuel line comes through a penetration in the firewall. put the fuel filter on the other side of the firewall. that's where the stock one is. _________________ 73 Beetle Baja, Ghia front brakes, Type 3 rear brakes, 2220 ( 94 X 80 ), Weber Progressive, Bosch SVDA, '97 Mustang seats
