I am trying to get the steering shaft separated for the linkage under the gas tank in my 73 super. I have loosened the bolt that crimps the linkage to the shaft but cant seem to get it free, so i was wondering if there was some trick to get it off.

Thanks

You have to remove the bolt on the clamp. the steering boox is slotted for safety redundancy.

Some PB Blaster may also help.

Mine were VERY tight on both the steering column and the box side. Needed a press to get them out.

Pulled the bolts completely out, and the assemble fell out on the floor. What a frustrating situation with such an easy solution. Thank you MURZI
