|
|
| I have been dating my girlfriend for a little over 4 years and I have been thinking about how to propose to her. I'll start by saying I am an avid car guy and have been my whole life oil runs in my vains. From working on them driving them, looking at them everything about them. That being said she is my favorite person to share my passion for cars with and she has grown to like cars herself, not quite the same as me but she has cars loves some of her favorites being the T1 and T2 VW bus along with the nissan Figaro. Now to my point haha, I am currently in the process of getting a ring and I want to propose and do something she would never expect and I want it to be special. I want to drive her around in a VW bus and take her to the park where we had our first date which was watching the sunrise at a park on a hill overlooking a small airport. Here is the problem I don't have a vw bus and I don't know anyone that does. It also seems like there is a rental for one locally but only for photo shoots where they bring the car to you. So I'm reaching out to this community to see if I can find someone or find someone through someone who might be able to help me. I am 22 years old and have a perfect driving record and have been driving stick since I had my license. In fact I bought my self a manual transmission car before I had my license. That being said I would be extremely careful with your vehicle and would love to talk to anyone that can help. I love my girl more than I can express and want to give her the proposal she deserves! For reference I live in the Cincinnati ohio area. Feel free to pm! |

My unsolicited advice: Spend the ring money on a bus. While fixing it up, ask your girlfriend to help you bleed the brakes a few times - if she sticks around, she's the one. THEN start saving for a ring - if she bails before you get a ring, then you'll have a bus, thousands of dollars in savings, AND you'll be single. |

This right here, if she wants to marry you then a stone that isn’t worth what they charge you won’t matter. A bus will bring you memories an engagement ring is rarely worn after the first year of marriage.
But if you really want this experience maybe pay someone to chauffeur you on your date, probably a higher probability of happening then someone turning over the keys to their pride and joy. _________________ Looking for anything from Hal Casey Motors out of Hamburg New York, from license plate surrounds to matchbooks.

Yeah, but if he buys a really nice engagement ring and she really loves him, she'll happily sell the engagement ring after the wedding to help buy a bus "for us", right? _________________ Never argue with an Idiot. They'll only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience. |

That's not my observation.
After 42 years, my wife wears hers everyday, with some exceptions. On our 40th I asked he if she wanted a larger one and she said she'd pass, the one she has is just fine, so I got her earrings. _________________ Glenn

That’s awesome! But I think you might be the outlier here. _________________ Looking for anything from Hal Casey Motors out of Hamburg New York, from license plate surrounds to matchbooks.

I don't know how much you guys are paying for rings but you can't buy a Bus for ring money. _________________ How to Post Photos

I could easily buy a ring for the money I told her I spent on the Bus. |

Come to suburban Long Island, every woman drives a huge suv and wears her ring.

I see what you did there

I bet you can get this bus cheaper.

Hopefully the original poster will locate a nearby Bus owner to drive them around on the "proposal date". I doubt that anyone with a nice Split Bus will hand over the keys of their pride and joy to someone they don't know and hope that it'll all work out. I wouldn't. But I'd probably chauffeur them a bit to make the proposal interesting and memorable. Good luck to you both!

I had someone rent my 58 Mango for a wedding proposal... I drove the bus to a certain location near the beach.., parked it..., The proposer had already filled the bus with balloons and flowers, .. he made a date with his girlfriend to go for a walk along the ocean, and she likes old buses, so he told her , they should go walk by the old bus parked up ahead, .. he opened the side door, pulled out the flowers and handed her a ring... (I just kind of hid off in the distance...) _________________ Wanted: Old Martin or Gibson Guitars |

Why settle for just a bus when they could potentially start a family with a camper?! _________________ Never argue with an Idiot. They'll only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience. |

My first date with my wife was for an oil change on her Plymouth. When she asked for a ring, she still hasn’t forgiven me for the set of Kolbenschmidts, and that was 40 years ago _________________ 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🍊 🍊 🍊 |
