Mulling over buying a 96 Golf GL for around 4k. Looks good, rides good, a little body damage, but no other damage. Miles at 97k. Mechanic warns of clutch going at 100k, and possible transmission problems coming due to sound when reversing - anyone have similar problems with this car, or experience with running one over 100k miles - what can i expect go fix in the next few years?
Thanks for any help! I want this baby, but dont wanna dig myself a hole. _________________ ---- s a i n t ---- |

| We have a 92 Jetta with 260,000 miles on it and it has not had any major repairs done to it. Several members of my family have driven watercooled VWs in excess of 300,000 miles. Watercooled VWs are excellent vehicles. Some people might disagree but they don't know what they are talking about! |
