|
|
I seem to have misplaced my bolts! I am referring to the plate that sits behind the front beam. Are these a special size or could one find them at a nut and bolt supply? I checked the big blue factory manual but couldn't find any details. Any help would be appreciated,

| That does help, thank you! If that's the case I should be able to get a nice pair of stainless hex bolts that fit. |

Point well taken! I have been making a habit of replacing and keeping spare bits on hand; This one had me stumped as I could not remember the size. As a rule though if I need 2 bolts I buy 4 or 6. Except those shock mount bolts at $22.00 a piece! I actually have never driven it....yet. |

For mounting the shocks, I am simply using Grade 8 SAE hardware. Same with the axle to swingarm fasteners. They are just more readily available, and work fine. _________________ 1958 Karmann Ghia owner |

| Same bolt (6mm) for the inspection plate under the rear seat? Or is it the same as the what I think is a smaller bolt as on the steering box inspection cover plate in the front trunk? |

Scotty,
The inspection plate is held in place by a IDK, 2.5-3mm sheet metal screw. Not a 6mm bolt. The screw is about 10-12mm long.
If you need a pic I can take one for ya.
Good Luck. _________________ I have learned over the years.

Is that what is known in the building trade as a 'zippy?' If so, I have a million of them.
I also have buckets of various sized cabinet hinge screws. |

Go with the pan head screw. Rounded top with short straight sides.
