I know this has been covered a bunch of times and ive done my best to follow through a bunch of similar threads to mine but everyones problems seem to be just a tad different.
I just picked up a bug that has some wonky wiring issues in the back.
Heres some info to go off as i try to figure this out, any help is appreciated.
**all front signals, lights etc work as they should.
- Running lights work 100% of the time in the rear
- Left rear turn signal does work
- Right rear does not
-Right rear brake light does work
-Left rear does not
The front trunk area was spray painted and care was not taken to NOT spray over the fuse box, could this be related it seems it was sprayed over the wires still attached but there is paint on the contacts to some extent?
Theres a Novita 552 thermal signal flasher under the trunk hood, is this realted to the rears? could it be an issue at all?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as i try to sort through this
bonus question, previous owner removed torsion bars to lower the front, how unsafe is this? i plan on doing an adjustable beam in the next month or so. Id say i drive it about 10 miles a week to get dinner or whatever so im not too concerned with safety but if im gonna die on my way to eat chinese food or something then that'd be good to know i guess
THANKS GUYS |

Check the bulbs in the rear, and the grounding of the lamp assemblies.
With the fronts working but the rears not, the wiring between the firewall/engine bay side walls and tarboards may have issues. You can carefully bend the side starboards back and check the connectors. and voltages with a VOM. |

I had similar issues on mine when I got it back from paint. Make sure to check the grounds . I scraped up underneath the area of the fenders where the nuts secure the light housing to the fender and used star washer in between the fender and the nut so that it bites into the fender. That fixed my problem one time. Also, check the ground on the headlight relay if you used one to convert to 12 volts. Mine came loose one time and i was losing it trying to find what was wrong.
Maybe use some sand paper or a small dremel w wire brush attachment and go at it one terminal and connection at a time on the fuse box so you don't forget what wire went where. Ensure battery is disconnected prior to messing with fuse box.
Hope this helps
