I kinda stumbled across this in the gallery, and was shocked there's no build forum on it! Unreal work being done on a severly rusty DC! Maybe FredrikW will chime in?

2 questions....

Is this also what you call a hack???

Do you still call it an original 64 DC after replacing more than half of it's original metal???... Shocked

Love to see an answer this Wink

I don't think anyone would consider replacing rusty metal a hack.

Not original metal to that bus but its a 64 DC still with 64 DC metal....It depends on what you mean, original to itself or original German. ....and if replacing more than 50% of the rusty metal makes it a hack then over 50% of the barndoors on this site are "hacks".
Short answer: No that isnt a hack....

I agree^^

I guess it gives meaning to the saying "anything can be restored"! I think thats cool. I thought mine was bad, but when I see ones like these I am even more motivated to keep going. AWESOME!

I´ve been wondering the same about mine, now I think is a 2013 Volkswagen doka instead of a 1960.

Makes you wonder how many welds other than the windshield frames they actually CUT. Or did they just lift and the chassis fell off? Very Happy
