Hi All
I have just installed the engine of my old bus ('89) in my new one ('88). Everything works like a charm exept for the water temperature meter.
On the 89 engine there are two connectors where the hose goes into the engine, on the 88 there are no such connectors, therefore there are no wires in the new bus. I can't figure out how to check the temerature, or where the temerature senders on the engine go. Any suggestions? This is pretty dangerous...

| Thanks for the reply, but i'm afraid a diagram won't help. Or does it say exactly where the connectors are on a '88 engine And where they come out of the car? |

After some searching I found a site that explains replacing the water pump, it shows a picture of two connectors does anybody reconize this spot?
Where the cables come out of the car, in the center above the engine I have two cables left that are no yet connected, they both have a rubber shoe, one is for the oil sender (I connected it to the engine and the oil light went on) and the other I don't know... This is the '88 car. On the '89 engine there are two connectors on the tube where the coolant enters the engine, using a total of 4 wires wich i don't have... any suggestions?
Or does anybody have a sender connection layout for a '88 and '89 engine? |

Okay, i just took the time to do more than "skim" my bentley. According to the book, on thermostat housings from 83-85, there is a single temp sensor, but from 86-on it looks like there is both a sender "for injection" and a "coolant display" sender on the housing. There should be no difference between 88 and 89. _________________ OG JHC

Thanks for taking the time!
I just realized that my car ia an old army van, "inlisted" as a civilian vehicle in '88 so maybe the car was built before that... Since the car only has one connector. But the question remaines where is the connector on the engine if there is a possibility to connect to the "89 engine using only one cable... |
