Hello, everyone. Until I purchased it three months ago, my 1973 VW 1303 had not been driven regularly since 1999. Like I mentioned in my previous posts, the Käfer is running pretty well aside from a stalling problem when the 1300 engine warms up. I have some STP carb treatment that is inserted with the fuel (treats up to 21 gallons, etc.). I'm wondering if anyone has used any carburetor treatment on any VW air-cooled engine. Is it a recommended thing to do to clean out potential gunk in the carb? Will this harm an air-cooled engine? Any thoughts appreciated... Thanks, NP

Really, I'd take the carb off and clean it separately. Or at least take the top half of the carb off, remove the gasket and float, and see how much sediment has built up in the bowl.
