No such thing as easy on this one. Start by using penetrating spray around the bolts and behind the hinge in the little open area. Then you have to step drill the bolts using small drill bits and stepping them up till you can get an easy out (usually nothing easy about them) in there. Give the bolt some heat with a torch and a couple good whacks using a screwdriver on the center of the screw. Lots of patience. Good luck.

Welding a nut to the head of the screw works a lot of times too

You can also try to drill the center out just smaller than the threads and and use an easy out to try to back the remaining screw out. Heat is allways good

Skip the easy out!! All too easy to break it off in there and it is hardened so it will not be drillable........

Get one of these for your air chisel - then add a phillips impact driver bit.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I have removed screws that that no longer looked like phillips heads before.

I would only use this to knock it loose, once it's loose then try threading it out normally.

Great video (and some funny moments) on how to remove frozen screws with your welder.

I second this.
I removed several frozen gate hinge screws from my SC this way.
Drilled out the screw slightly smaller than thread size. The stripped Phillips centres the bit nicely.
Then heat it up real good with a micro torch aimed in the drilled hole and the Easy Out should turn it out effortlessly.
This method spares the original paint around the screw head.
Always got to be careful with an Easy Out and I would not attempt the Easy Out without heat.
Like E&B said, they are a bitch to try to drill out.

Welding a nut on the head works well too, as the heat breaks the corrosion bond, but it is harder on the surrounding paint.
