Has anyone had issues with the center mounting bracket for safari windows? The one I have seems to be WAY off. I tried bending it and the angle just seems to be off and overall too wide. Its some random brand from ebay. Not sure if I am doing something wrong, or just simply order a different one, this one seems to be more trouble than its worth.
I tried bending the side flaps where the threads are out to the right angle, but then the mount is just too wide and spreads the sliders on the windows out way too far. I could cut the bracket in half, and re-weld it too be a bit shorter but for $20-$35 maybe ordering a new brand is best? Anyone come across this? And it can only go in two directions, I flipped it over and was even worse. Its stainless too, which doesnt matter to me as I'd paint it.
I saw this one from a seller on here:

My last set of safaris were from Wolfgang Int. I had to cut that piece in half to get it to work. Wasn’t the end of the world but a bit frustrating with an expensive kit. _________________ Looking for anything from Hal Casey Motors out of Hamburg New York, from license plate surrounds to matchbooks.

| Thanks , good to know. Wolfgang are good peeps, so even the name brand has issues at times. I guess I'll mess with this piece since I already have it, and its getting welded, so might as well chop it up and mess with it, if it doesn't pan out I'll try another brand and no worse can come from what it was out of the box, sucks a bit with the small parts that should be correct, but I suppose it happens. |

The shape of all of those are quite a bit simplified from the originals, so it’s not surprising to hear they don’t work well.
If you want something better hit up Mark and ask him to make more of the later style:

Thanks all, good info and links! The first link I posted has a very different shape in the center closer to the original, and significantly different than the one I currently have. The one I have, if you're looking at it , it's basically a V shape, and as mentioned too long and just way off. I'll try the first link, between the two I'll make it work well for sure.
Those original ones are really nice. |
