I am restoring my 68 Westy and I started putting the front doors together after a respray and I got the wing window in the door with the new seal, but for the life of me, I can't get the seal to tuck under the top corner below the end of the chrome trim. The chrome is smashed in between the frame and the is no room for the rubber to tuck under. Do people trim the rubber at the top chrome edge or what. It tucks in nice every where else. It is a brazilian outerscraper and a german wing seal.

The vent rubber goes on top of the scraper trim.

So it does not tuck into the frame anywhere?

I see what I did. The rubber is also Brazilian and when I put it on the outside edge was un even and looked so crappy I figured it needed to be tucked in. Looks like I will buy 2 new german seals. Yay, nothing like buying the same part twice.

Yes the outer lip sits outside the frame and the chrome, sorry to hear you've learned the cheap parts are often a bad choice for a reason.

I got mine from Airhead Parts and they fit fantastic. I probably could have spent a lot more elsewhere Wink

I bought a complete front door kit from a guy on Ebay and it was really cheap. The parts were half from WW and the other half Brazil. Even my outer scrapers fit pretty damn good. Every other seal or plastic piece I have purchased from WW or Bus Depot. It all adds up fast. I will have 6k into the restoration and I have done everything myself minus spraying the paint. It will be a new bus good for another 45 years.
