I acquired my first VW Bus, 1970 model this week. I'm pretty new to mechanics as well as the Bus. This morning I got in, turned the key in the ignition, but nothing happened. The dash lights came on, stereo, etc., but the motor did nothing. The ignition is not original but I don't know much more than that. ANy help would be appreciated. Thanks for your help and sorry for my ignorance up front.[/i] |

There was another thread dealing with a similar situation to yours started this morning. You may want to read through it for suggestions about what to look for and check. Lots of good info in it.

The first thing to do is check your battery voltage. Maybe you just left on the dome light overnight. _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum

Sound's like you need the "Idiot's Guide...." as well. Looking for my first bus and scanning the pages of this book on Amazon shows a flowchart of this situation very early in the book.

Here's a great deal on a multimeter. Every bus owner should have one.
