Any luck with the CVs? I have purchased a Hormiga. There has been a lot of deferred sevice. I guess they had lost the manual. I wanted to perform the service. Any ideas?? Thanks |

Homer,
I think it's going to be tough finding those in the US. I would try contacting a VW dealer with the part number mentioned above. Unfortunately, the dealer in Melbourne will most likely be of no help. I'm sure there is someone on this site who works at a dealership and has access to its network/supply channels. They will most likely be outside the US.
I've only seen one Hormiga before and it was in Bolivia. What's the story on this one?
Your other option might be to take the complete joint to a CV rebuilder and see if they can regrind it and fit larger balls. I don't think there is anyone in Brevard Co. that does this but I could be wrong. There used to be a few guys that rebuilt axles in S. Florida 10+ years ago when I last lived there. Chinese replacement axles are usually so cheap that rebuilding axles isn't done anymore.
Good luck

That number goes nowhere in a US computer. All I come up with for 200407331 is that it was dropped on 2/15/1989 and the Classic Parts Center icon doesn't show up either. Have you got a picture of the CV joint? Knowing how VW loved raiding the parts bin for different models maybe there's something else that will fit? |

X2. I used to work at a parts store that rebuilt axles. They basically grind the grooves out of the joint and fit oversize ball bearings. Doesnt take long and I am sure it will be far cheaper than sourcing new ones. _________________ 60 Rock Grey Vert |
