When I got my DC it had 1 & 2/3rd seats in it. Of course this isn't correct! I found a bench seat, but the PO(s) cut the back support brackets out. DOH! Yes I did a search, but didn't find one with what I'm looking for.
I need the following measurements so I can fab some up.
A.
B.
C.
D.
E. which is the top width
It's the bracket seen in this picture.

A= 4 5/8"
B= 6 1/2"
C= 4 9/16"
D= 1/2"
E=1 1/2"
Angle of repose = ~67 degrees
The bracket is one piece, bent into a C shape initially, then cuts made in the vertical faces so it can be bent at 67 degrees. Although the top is 1 1/2" across and the sides are 1/2", cut the piece wider than 2 1/2" as there will be some material taken up in the bend.
The vertical edges then overlap each other at the 67 degree bend and one spot weld holds them in place.
Make the bracket about 2" longer than needed as both ends needs extra length to be welded to the bulkhead and dogleg respectively.
matt, not sure what you mean by how far the seat bracket is from divider?
Which bracket and what divider? _________________ The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance, but the illusion of knowledge

I was talking about the bottom seat bracket or locater where the seat is secured.
And i was looking to find out how far from the the edge of that to the cabin divider. if that makes sense.
Thanks Matt |

Hello, first post so if I goof up I'm sorry... Is someone able to post a reference picture to clarify the measurements for the info in this topic? The picture the letters refer to appears to be nla, and I am unsure which letters mean what... Thanks.
My front bench seat bottom seems to be either too thick or those brackets were fabbed up incorrectly before I got the bus, they are so close to the bottom seat that I can not pivot the bottom bench seat up to access the toolbox. It's so tight in-fact, than in order to even remove the bottom bench seat, I had to compress the seat springs substantially to have enough clearance to not break the little seat holding tabs off their spot welds... Seems too tight to me, I assume VW designed it with more clearance than that.
I have a 4/59 Single Cab for reference, with what I think is a repop seat frame (Which could also be the problem?) The bottom seat has a horsehair pad, top does not. Also there are little rubber nipples on the brackets in question, not sure if those should be there or not either _________________ 04/59 Single Cab |
