I'm about to connect the heater on my 67 bus for the first time and I'm wondering if connecting only one side would have an impact on the engine?
My bus is a deluxe, so it has the heater "log" on the floor. I have installed a Westfalia folding bed to my bus, so any heat from the log will accumulate under the seat and make my tools, spare oil, etc. really hot. Eventually, I'll make a passage for the hot air. But in the meantime, if I connect the heater cable only on the side that sends heat to the front of the bus, will that create an unbalanced cooling situation for the engine?
I already threw my #3 rod a year or so ago and had to replace the engine, so I'm trying to be nice to the new one! |

If both fresh air hoses are connected from the shroud it won't matter, the air is still flowing through both regardless of what the cables are doing. Early bays have individual controls for each side and they don't melt down. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

I have an early bay westy hideabed in the back of my 15 window. I cut the bottom of the bed box to allow for the heater log.
I removed the door for the cupboard under the bed. That way the heat comes into the bus when the heat is on. Works fine. Don’t put heat sensitive items on the heater log. |
